Behind the Skeins Tour
October 13, 2014

Join The Traveling Ewe™ on Monday, October 13th, 2014 for a Behind the Skeins Tour™ – an adventure where we go some places that knitters and crocheters don’t usually get to go!

We will start our trip at Lantern Moon‘s warehouse at 10am. This Portland based company believes in sustainable products and paying fair wages to the makers of their products located in small communities in places like Vietnam. We will get a tour of the warehouse as well as more information about this great company and their philosophy.

Next we will head to JAMpdx ceramics studio for a tour of these two partners studio and how they create their beautiful yarn bowls, yarny mugs and more. Jen and Megan (get it? JaM?) are great local artisans and will have their wares out on display for you to purchase if you like.

After that we will head to Oregon Public House, the first non-profit pub in existence for our lunch. We will get a delicious lunch and all profit from our lunch will go towards SCRAP, a great crafty non-profit. A win/win! You will have a choice of a Brat and Kraut on a Bun, Teriyaki Chicken or the Gluten-Free, Nut Free, Vegan Polenta with Seasonal Veggies. See the “lunch menu options” tab for more details.

Then onwards to Knitted Wit and her new dye studio. We will get a chance to meet the lovely Lorajean, the creative genius behind the company and she will give us a quick tour on how they dye yarn. We will have an opportunity to peruse her yarns and make any purchases we like.

Then lastly, we will head to Ashland Bay in Tualatin. They are a wholesale yarn mill and take fleeces and turn it into yarn on a large scale for indie yarn dyers…like Lorajean at Knitted Wit. We will get a tour of their warehouse and see how it all works.

We will return to our vehicles at Lantern Moon by 5:30pm.

The cost for this trip is $85/person and includes lunch and transportation.
