Join the Traveling Ewe™ for a fun and educational day along the Willamette Valley in our first Willamette Valais™ trip!

We will leave from Portland, Oregon and head to Lebanon, Oregon to visit Shepherd’s Lane where the very first Valais Blacknose sheep in the United States are being bred. These adorable sheep are part of a comprehensive genetics program created by Shepherd’s Lane owners Martin and Joy to introduce the breed to the United States from Europe.

We will get to see six week old Valais lambs and their mamas, as well as learn more about their operation, how the sheep came to be here, and the future plans for the breed here in the states. Joy will also share why properties of the Valais sheep fleece make them so ideal for spinning. We will have a little time to spend in the farm shop and workshop to see the items they have available for sale from their animals as well.

After a stop for a delicious lunch we will then steer the coach towards Halsey and Ewethful Fiber Farm and Mill. Ewethful’s owner Kim is doing amazing work creating Oregon yarns and will show us her mill process from fleeces to finished yarn, as well as letting us spend a little time shopping in the retail space. This is a really interesting step in the fiber process that we don’t often get to see, and Kim’s enthusiasm and knowledge are a really fun introduction.

Lastly we will stop at Cozy Yarns in Eugene for a little bit of time to shop before heading back to Portland. Cozy is a fun, bright, hip shop with a lot of interesting and pretty yarn.

Price for this trip is $119 and includes professional transportation on a luxury coach as well as your lunch.
